50:50 Parliament with Rosie Duffield MP In Parliament To #AskHerToStand!

Press Release here

50:50 Parliament invite everyone to join them for an inspirational #AskHerToStand event in Parliament on Monday 4 Dec. 50:50 will start with a rally on the railings at 5.30 pm then head into Parliament to hear from a cross-party panel of winning women MPs from 6.30-7.30 committee room 10. The panel are going to talk about why they stood and encourage others to do the same.
With women winning only 12 extra seats in the last election progress towards political equality is pitiful. At this rate it will take 50 years to have gender equality of representation in Parliament and as we all know representation shapes policy. So 50:50 are taking action we want 117 more women to be elected to Westminster at the next election and we are out to recruit them with our #AskHerToStand campaign!
Next year marks the anniversary of women winning the right to vote and 50:50 will continue campaigning hard for women to achieve political equality.
The event on Monday is being hosted by Rosie Duffield MP who is 50:50’s #AskHerToStand champion, having been encouraged to stand by 50:50 she now has a seat in Parliament.
This occasion marks the anniversary of Nancy Astor taking her seat in the Commons.
One hundred years after women won the right to vote it’s time for equal say and equal seats!
Please join the campaign by signing up at www.5050Parliament.co.uk. It costs nothing but this way you will get information about any future events. If you would like to be more involved or would consider standing please email FrancesScott@5050Parliament.co.uk
