50:50 Parliament will be joining the Day of Action to end workplace harassment on Tuesday 5th March.
All work places, including Westminster need to be safe spaces that are free of harassment.
50:50 will be joining the Centenary Action Group, Fawcett Society, “Not the Job” and many others to lobby MPs in Parliament. Westminster should lead the way in being a safe place to work free of harassment and intimidation. 50:50 want politics to be safe space for everyone!
As Hillary Clinton says “To get the sexism out of politics we need to get more women into politics” that is why 50:50 are taking action with our #AskHerToStand and #SignUpToStand campaigns to inspire, support and encourage more women along the path to Parliament. But it is important that women feel safe and welcome at Westminster and everywhere, which is why we are supporting this Day of Action.
The day will kick off at 11.00 am at Westminster Hall with a morning of speakers and engagement events with leading gender equality campaigners – Jess Philips MP, Maria Miller MP and Helen Pankhurst. We will then have a mass lobby of our MPs with individual meetings with MPs. Someone from CAG and the organising team will be on hand all day to help with meetings
SO here is what we need you to do:
- Sign up here so that Care International who are organising the day know you are joining and can send more detailed information about meeting points and how to lobby your MP in Parliament
- Tell all your friends, relatives and colleagues and ask them to sign up too
- If you cannot attend Parliament then CAG can help you lobby your MP at their local constituency office –sign up here
- Please promote the day on social media to gain awareness and support
