#AskHerToStand Day
21st November

To celebrate the centenary of the Qualification of Women Act, MPs of all parties are inviting a woman from their constituency to attend Parliament for the day.

50:50 Parliament, Jo Cox Foundation, Fawcett Society, and Centenary Action Group are organising this awesome #AskHerToStand Day.

The day will include inspirational events for delegates to attend, in addition to spending time with their MP and team.

We hope that this will be an opportunity for women to gain a better understanding of political life and the difference that they can make.

It will be a clear demonstration that Westminster welcomes women.

If you'd like to attend as a delegate, please email your MP and ask for an invite - and CC contact@5050parliament.co.uk (find your MP's email address here)

This event is invite only. It is necessary to have an invitation from your MP and to complete the registration form if you wish to attend.

09:00 – 20:00, Wednesday 21st November 2018.

The 21st November marks 100 years since the passing of the Qualification of Women Act, when women could legally stand for Parliament.

The purpose of the day is to inspire and encourage a diverse range of women to stand for political office.

In last 100 years, only 491 women have gained seats at Westminster, compared to 4,503 men.

At the last election only 12 extra women were elected - at this rate it will take over 50 years to achieve the gender balanced Parliament that all parties have agreed is desirable.
